Teatre Principal de Palma
The Teatre Principal de Palma is a leading cultural institution in the Balearic Islands. With a history spanning more than three and a half centuries since its origins as the Casa de las Comedias, this iconic venue combines a rich historical heritage with the vision of great soloists and creators on the international stage.
An opera house with an international reputation
True to its commitment to openness and artistic excellence, the theatre is renowned for its well-established opera and musical theatre seasons, which have now run for over thirty editions. The theatre is home to the Coro de la Fundació Teatre Principal de Palma as its resident choir and hosts the world’s finest theatre, dance and circus companies.
Major productions and theatrical versatility
Its opera season runs annually from March to November, featuring the theatre’s own productions of large-scale operatic works—in both staged and concert versions—and alternating the great classics of the universal operatic repertoire with a regular programme of zarzuela performances, as well as children’s shows.
