Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre plunges us into the second part of the colossal tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen. Under the acclaimed direction of Pablo Heras-Casado and Robert Carsen, the production sets the action in a world ravaged by human abuse, brought to life by outstanding singers such as Ricarda Merbeth, Stuart Skelton, Adrianne Pieczonka and René Pape.

Based on Germanic mythology, the plot of this second instalment centres on the valkyrie Brünnhilde, daughter of the powerful Wotan, who decides to disobey her father to protect the tragic romance between Siegmund and Sieglinde, and which culminates in one of the most celebrated moments in the history of opera: the ‘Ride of the Valkyries’.
