Götterdämmerung
Richard Wagner's monumental opera Götterdämmerung (The Twilight of the Gods), the final installment of the Ring of the Nibelung saga, leads us into a feast of betrayals, plots, and revenge that drags all the characters, without exception, to their doom. Crowned with a powerful catharsis, this opera culminates the musical odyssey of the tetralogy, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado and Robert Carsen at the Teatro Real.
The final part of this story weaves a breathtaking drama in which the curse of the ring unleashes the fall of Valhalla and the definitive end of the gods' tyranny. The celebrated and powerful "Funeral March" crowns the musical climax of a masterpiece that, in this production, emphasizes the ecological subtext of this immense moral fable.
