From Mahler to mélodie
Described by French newspaper Le Figaro as “the Pelléas of his time,” British baritone Huw Montague-Rendall has conquered some of the world's leading theaters, including the Royal Opera House and the Opéra National de Paris, as well as the Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence festivals, among others. But his artistic profile is not limited to opera; the baritone is also a great song interpreter, particularly notable in Gustav Mahler's orchestral Lieder and Henri Duparc's mélodies, which he has masterfully recorded with Malcolm Martineau. In this case, alongside Joseph Middleton, one of the frequent pianists at LIFE Victoria, he makes his recital debut in Barcelona after recently performing at the Liceu in Die Fledermaus with Marc Minkowski. Another unmissable debut at the Festival by one of the voices that will become essential in the world of lieder in the coming years.
